Dream Job: White House Chef

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

George W. Bush may be the Commander in Chief, but executive chef Cris Comerford rules the White House kitchen!

Growing up in the Philippines with 10 siblings, Cris says there were
always mouths to feed. Years ago, her family came to America to make
their dreams come true.

Cris worked her way up to the White House kitchen, where she became the
assistant chef for the Clintons. She beat, whipped and pureed for 10
years before being promoted to chief chef!

Her main job is to prepare the family’s breakfasts, lunches, dinners
and the occasional late-night nibble. "They do a lot of sneaking around
so, you know, whenever they have a taste for something like a little
bite of a cookie or fudge, we have something. They’re very healthy
eaters as well," Cris says.

One of Mrs. Bush’s favorite dishes is Cris’s roasted pumpkin squash soup.

It’s the big White House parties that this chef lives for. She says one
of her favorite official dinners was for Prince Charles and the Duchess
of Cornwall, Camilla.

Cris says she’s definitely living a dream come true. "If it’s a dream," she says, "I don’t want to wake up from it!"

pearl jam dies hard

Friday, July 13th, 2007

die hard pearl jam fans should watch die hard 4.0… not too far into the movie, you’ll get a kick out of pearl jam being mentioned when bruce and the hacker guy talks about music. well, it is just a 2-second, one-time mention but you gotta admit, it is pretty cool…

more reason to watch the movie? how about a hot chinese karate chick getting kicked in the ass by bruce? i like it when he rams an suv into her..haha..

and yeah, bruce is what? 50? and he doesn’t look half-bad at all…in fact, if only i had a fetish for older men, i’d probably pick him (over john travolta, that is)…

i can pull up a list of bands i like but pearl jam would definitely top it! great melody, profound lyrics, and you just gotta respect the principles the band stands for. its been hard finding people my age who love the band as much as i do.. so if you’re one, send me a pm and maybe we can listen to eddie over coffee jelly :P

anyway here are the top ten most played (in live concerts) pearl jam songs… five out of ten are from the TEN album..hehe.. three from VS. and two from Vitalogy… still not sure which is the best album? lol

  1. Evenflow
  2. Alive
  3. Black
  4. Jeremy
  5. Porch
  6. Daughter
  7. Cordoruy
  8. Betterman
  9. Animal
  10. Rearviewmirror

Makes me wonder why bamboo revived Alive instead of Evenflow.. but hell, im just glad they didn’t mess up the song… now if only pearl jam would return to phili, think il sell my soul to get a ticket …lol

Nevermind Baby Turns 16

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Got this from celebitchy.com…!

The baby reaching for the dangling buck on the iconic album cover
“Nevermind: from Nirvana will turn 16 on July 9th. Little Spencer Elden
was photographed swimming in a pool and the dollar on the fishing line
was added later. Elden’s family were friends of the photographer hired
by Nirvana to shoot the cover, and were paid about $200 for their son’s
photograph.

In a September 2006 interview in NME, Elden said that he was proud to be a part of such a great album, and that the band’s songs don’t get old:

“Nevermind is fifteen years old now, but you
still hear the singles being played on the radio and it just doesn’t
sound dated. Most bands around today can’t even get near to what
Nirvana did on that album, and I’ll always be happy to be a part of it.”

Elden recreated the album cover in 2002 for an article in Rolling Stone that discusses how influential Nirvana was in changing the scope of popular music and how timeless all of the tracks are.

When “Nevermind” came out I was in college, and I remember my
friends singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” as that was a hit single at
the time. I missed an opportunity to see Nirvana play at my school
around that time and will probably always regret it. It’s nice to see
that they’re still remembered and that Nirvana influenced more than
just my generation.

Check out the pics! Haha sooo cooooolll! Naa pa jud apilapilon hehe…
